What is happening
When you attempt to save an Adobe .pdf file in QuickBooks running Microsoft Windows XP, the following error message appears:

Activation error: printer not activated. Error code -20:

How to fix the problem
If you are using QuickBooks 2007, update to the latest release of QuickBooks, repair your QuickBooks installation, delete and reinstall the QuickBooks PDF driver, and rename the qbprint.qbp file.

If you are using QuickBooks 2008 or 2009, delete and reinstall the QuickBooks PDF Converter.

This issue has been resolved in the latest release for QuickBooks 2010. QuickBooks 2010 users, update your product to the latest release.

To resolve this error:

This issue has been resolved in the latest release for QuickBooks 2010. QuickBooks 2010 users, update your product to the latest release.
For QuickBooks 2007:
To update to the latest release, refer to Updating QuickBooks and select Updating QuickBooks automatically.
To repair your QuickBooks installation, refer to Repairing a QuickBooks installation.
To delete and reinstall the QuickBooks PDF driver, refer to Installing or reinstalling the QuickBooks PDF Converter.
To rename the qbprint.qbp file, refer to Repairing damaged print settings.

For QuickBooks 2008 and 2009, refer to Installing or reinstalling the QuickBooks PDF Converter to delete and reinstall the QuickBooks PDF driver.
